(AP) — The holiday house that’s been publishing books since 1923 is buying the Holiday House Publishing House in Montgomery County, a new publisher confirmed Tuesday.
The Holiday House owns a lot on Interstate 75, which connects Madison to Birmingham, which is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Madison.
The house will have offices in the downtown area and in the surrounding area.
It also has a book store and other stores in the Birmingham area, according to the Associated Press.
The purchase price was not disclosed, but the sale of the Holiday Home publishing house will likely net the family $1.8 million, the AP reported.
The purchase price is about $500,000 less than the Holiday Inn in Madison that also owns a Holiday house.
The company’s publishing company, The Holiday House, has published more than 250 books since it began in 1923, including the bestsellers “The Christmas House” and “The New Year’s Eve.”
It also publishes several nonfiction titles, including “The Year of the Goat,” “A Story of Love and Romance” and more than 100 children’s books.
The name of the company is not known.
The Holiday Home, which has been a popular family entertainment destination since 1927, has more than 40 years of experience in publishing books.
